For over 50 years, Marin Ballet has trained children ages 3 to 18 in the art of classical ballet and performance. Artistic Director and Marin Ballet Alumna, Cynthia Lucas, leads Marin Ballet's distinctive dance program by combining the experience of a 28-year performance and coaching career at The National Ballet of Canada with the traditional training model established by Marin Ballet's founder, Leona Norman. A diverse and nurturing faculty teaches a syllabus based in the Vagonova tradition and enriched with Balanchine technique. Infusions of relevant dance idioms are added in the summer to provide a well-rounded foundation of ballet education. Performance opportunities are available to all levels in the school.
Performances include our full-length Nutcracker production at Marin Center, spring repertoire for Levels 1 - 9, and pre-ballet presentations in our own 120-seat theater, plus select community inReach/outReach projects. Marin Ballet is also a member of Regional Dance America/Pacific and is pleased to participate in the annual RDA/P Festival held each May.
