Outreach Performances

Marin Ballet's professionally produced full-length presentation of Nutcracker is truly Marin's grandest and most lavish production of the holiday classic. The performances offer our largest annual outreach opportunities, and we are proud that the community supports our efforts to bring this cherished tradition to the stage.

Our Nutcracker certainly has a positive impact on the community:

• Nearly 6,000 people attend our performances each year.  Roughly 90 percent of our audience comes from the community-at-large and most (94%) are from Marin County.
• The cast includes more than 160 local children performers, giving them the opportunity to perform for the public in a professional theater venue. Fifteen percent of these performers receive some level of need-based financial assistance to cover the costs of their Marin Ballet tuition.
• The production allows for collaborative partnerships with other local dance schools and professional guest artists.
• Marin Ballet’s NEW production of Nutcracker brings together a team of talented Marin artists in a partnership that will yield the premiere of a new production in December 2009.  Julia Adam, Choreographer; Melissa Wortman, Costume Design; and Sung Kim, Set Design.  Marin Ballet is proud to play a role in bringing the work of these extraordinary Marin artists to the stage for the entire community to enjoy.
