theater etiquette

To make performances a positive experience for both the performers and the audience, we ask our families to remember these golden rules of theater etiquette.

  • Arrive early and stay to the finish. Entering or leaving while a performance is in progress is discourteous and disruptive for all. If you bring a young child, please consider whether s/he can enjoy the entire performance.

  • Be sure all cell phones, beepers, and watch alarms are turned off.

  • No photographic or video equipment may be used during performances (except during the Pre-Ballet Showcase in June). It is distracting and dangerous for the dancers and is discourteous to others in the audience.

  • No food or drink other than water is permitted in the theater. Please be sure to unwrap candy or cough drops before performances begin.
