Development & Marketing/Communications Associate

Marin Ballet, founded in 1963, is a ballet training school located in the Dominican area of San Rafael. It is our mission to provide excellent dance training and education, and to promote the art of dance.

Development & Marketing/Communications Associate

Reports to:
Executive Director

Full-Time Employee, 40 hours per week

Description:
The Development & Marketing/Communications Associate works with the Executive Director, Artistic Director, Board of Trustees, and Development Assistant & Volunteer Coordinator. This position is responsible for the management and implementation of multi-faceted fundraising activities for the organization, as well as serving to promote the organization's programs, performances, activities, and special events.

Fundraising activities currently include: capital campaign, major donor cultivation, foundation grants, individual donor solicitation for the Annual Fund, two fundraising events, other special events, annual donor and volunteer acknowledgement, and individual and corporate sponsorship.

Marketing and Communications activities currently include: advertising for public performances, school branding, recruitment and enrollment strategies, website utilization/enhancement, and newsletter communications.

Development Responsibilities include:

• Work with Executive Director and Development Committee to identify annual

development objectives.
• Develop and implement annual development plan.
• Support the Executive Director by implementing and managing all fundraising activities.
• Develop and oversee implementation of fundraising strategies for website.
• Oversee and coordinate ongoing annual fundraising event.
• Work with Executive Director and Development Committee to oversee and coordinate a new fundraising event.
• Identify and research giving capacity of current donor base and develop solicitation strategies.
• Plan, coordinate, and publish an annual donor and volunteer acknowledgement report.
• Cultivate new individual, foundation, and corporate donors.
• Cultivate corporate and individual sponsors for performance, outreach, and fundraising events.
• Oversee fulfillment of donor and sponsorship benefits.
• Work with Artistic Director and Volunteer/Alumni Coordinator on special events.

Marketing/Communications Responsibilities:
• Work with Executive and Artistic Directors to identify annual marketing/communications objectives.
• Develop annual marketing/communications plan.
• Support the Executive Director and Artistic Director by implementing and managing all marketing/communications activities.
• Develop and implement marketing strategies for school branding, student recruitment/enrollment, school programs, and public performances.
• Oversee the overall look and layout of all marketing pieces.
• Coordinate and oversee the production of advertisements, fliers, signage, brochures, invitations, and collateral materials.
• Develop press packets and press releases as needed.
• Plan, coordinate, and publish a semiannual newsletter, an annual report, as well as enrollment fliers.
• Develop and oversee implementation of marketing and communications strategies for website.
• Track and archive marketing/public relations materials.
• Work with Volunteer/Alumni Coordinator on special events to be sure all events are marketed appropriately and accurately.

Requirements:
• Excellent written, oral, and communication skills
• Experience managing development and marketing functions in a non-profit environment
• Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and maintain quality of work
• Good team player, able to work well with all levels of staff
• Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Dreamweaver, and Salesforce.
• Passion for the arts and education.

Education:
B.A. or B.S. required, 3-5 years related experience with nonprofit arts organizations preferred.
